Andrew Layton - Scenic Design

Recently, Andrew spent several seasons as Scenic Design Department Supervisor at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. While at Williamstown, he oversaw thirty productions, and supervised and mentored student interns' workshop performances. He was also the designer for Dissonance, a world premier, written by Damian Lanigan and directed by Amanda Charlton.

Some of Andrew's favorite designs include: Dissonance (Williamstown), Suor Angelica (UW OPERA), Midsummer Night's Dream (PCPA Theatrefest), Orphee Aux Enfers (UW Opera), Tom Jones (PDX), and The Old Settler and From the Mississippi Delta (Triad Stage, Greensboro, NC), Hot Mikado, White Christmas, and The Music Man (PCPA Theatrefest, Santa Maria, CA).

Andrew is currently Lecturer of Scenic Design at The University of California, Santa Barbara, where he enjoys teaching and mentoring his students, and designing both on campus and as a freelance designer.

Andrew Layton is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts (BFA) and The University of Washington (MFA).
